Abbey at Trail Lodge is a modern self-catering studio apartment set within the beautifully restored Silverdale Corn Mill, surrounded by the peaceful Silverdale Glen near Ballasalla in the south of the Isle of Man. Perfect for couples or friends, it offers a relaxing countryside escape with walks, wildlife, and local attractions right on your doorstep.



The bright open-plan studio features a fully equipped kitchen, dining area for two, and a cosy living space with a 40” Smart TV and electric fire. The zip-and-link beds can be made up as a super king or twin, and the modern shower room adds a touch of hotel-style comfort.



Guests have access to a boot room with lockers and wash-down facilities - ideal for walkers, cyclists, and anyone exploring the great Manx outdoors.



Right outside the lodge, Silverdale Glen offers plenty to enjoy. There’s a playground with the historic Victorian water-powered carousel, a picnic paddock, and the picturesque Monk’s Lake where you can hire pedalos or kayaks. Scenic riverside walks follow the Silverburn River past old mill sites and down to the 14th-century Monk’s Bridge and Rushen Abbey.



A short stroll brings you to Ballasalla village, home to a pub, restaurants, and a convenience store. There’s also excellent transport with frequent buses and the Isle of Man Steam Railway - making it easy to explore Douglas, Castletown, and the south of the island.



Trail Lodge also features a fully restored working waterwheel, once used to power the mill and now generating sustainable electricity for guests - a unique and eco-friendly feature.



Abbey at Trail Lodge combines modern comfort, Manx history, and natural beauty for a peaceful and memorable stay in the heart of the Isle of Man.

If booking as part of a group, Abbey can be booked alongside Silverburn, Drakes and Heron; all studio apartments at Trail Lodge at Silverdale.

Kitchen: Well-equipped, containing oven, hob, toaster, kettle and fridge with ice box.

Living area: L-shaped sofa bed which can be added to your booking on request, Gazco fire, Smart TV and dining table with two chairs.

Sleeping area: Zip & link bed which can be configured as a super king or twin on request, dressing table and occasional chair.

Bathroom: Walk-in shower, wash hand basin and WC.

Outdoor storage: Guests can store bicycles and outdoor pursuits equipment on site, which can be organised with the property owner.

General

Laundry Facilities: Guests have access to the laundry room containing a washing machine and tumble dryer, shared with the other apartments on site.

Parking: Private parking is available via a public footpath.

Changeover Day: Flexible. Arrival - 4:00pm, departure - 10:00am

Pets: Two dogs accepted at an additional charge. Please note there is no private outdoor space.

Damage: Important! We are committed to protecting our properties which is why we now take a £35 fee from each booking as a damage waiver. This is included in the price you pay and covers you for up to £500 worth of accidental damages to the property that could occur whilst you are staying.
