An immaculate ground floor apartment in the heart of Laxey Village in the Isle of Man. Idyllic and private location next to the Manx Electric Railway tram station, a stream, pubs and shops. Perfect for a lovely and quiet get away.
Featuring a large open plan kitchen and lounge dining area the property is a spacious place for a couple, the large corner sofa can also be set up as a sofa bed as required to sleep another person. The apartment has been carefully renovated from an old workshop (May 2019) and is very bright with large double french doors with views towards Laxey and the village church. Located right beneath the Manx Electric Railway you can hear them go past along with the river that runs along side the road across from the property.
Laxey is a wonderful village about 10-15 minutes from Douglas and the ferries and about 30-40 minutes from the airport. The apartment is located in the heart of the village and just a short walk to shops, pubs and the famous Manx Electric Railway! In fact, the apartment is located just under the tram bridge and you can hear the quaint toot-toot of the old Victorian trams. Laxey harbour is about a 10 - 15 minute walk and has a great beach. Just located across the road is a river that runs from the Laxey flour mills to the Laxey can hear it from the apartment.
Laxey is famous for the Lady Isabella or Laxey Wheel - the largest working waterwheel in the world. There are many beautiful walks just outside the apartment's doorstep up the Laxey Garden Glen. And of course you can catch a tram to take you into either Douglas, Ramsey or Snaefell summit.

Great locationLovely quiet spot in a handy location. Short step to the tram stop and shops and very walkable down to the harbour and beach. Mona Lisa restaurant merited a return visit, as did the cafe at the far end of the beach, we were lucky with good weather so no problem to sit outside watching the waves while we tucked into treats. Very nice to have a selection of foody basics to welcome us, much appreciated. Other reviewers have already mentioned the bathroom window and the only other very minor thing that would have been helpful for us would be a cafetiere, we had gone armed with my husbands's favourite coffee, but it was an excuse for cafe visits instead. Just a suggestion, no-one can cater for everyone's foibles!

4 day visitExcellent place for 2. The only complaint I have is that the bathroom window should be obscured, fortunately we remembered to close the blind thus saving the blushes of anyone passing. The Mona Lisa restaurant down by the harbour is well recommended.

Very nice apartment, unfortunately wasn't the bestThe apartment was absolutely fine, perfect in every way, unfortunately there was 4 children living upstairs and playing football inside, loads of bumping and banging from early morning and continue till around 930pm every day, I did report this but it unfortunately didn't stop it, Children aren't allowed in the workshop apartment but there's children living upstairs, we wanted a peaceful brake away being disabled and suffering from PTSD , so the banging really really affect me, if you're after a quiet time away this isn't the place to stay, the tenant after we reported it would come to the window next to there front door and look through, we was eating fish and chips at the time, Every single day the bumping and banging continued on, we did report this to island escapes, and they did try everything to stop it, but it didn't make any difference, I find it bad that children can't stay in the apartment but yet u have to put up with children above banging each morning until night, it really did effect my PTSD ,

Little BreakLovely apartment, great welcome pack of bread, butter, milk, cheese, biscuits keeps you going for when you arrive. Clean and spacious, comfortable bed. Everything you need really. Only two negatives which were only 4 hangers in the wardrobe, not enough, and the clear pane of glass in the bathroom?? The blind is permanently down. I would recommend to family and friends.

great stay in laxeythis place was so cute, and almost perfect. the only things i would add would be trash bags, laundry detergant, and maybe a couple of more towels. we were provided only 2 towels for a 10 day stay. we were there for the TTs and usually like to watch the races that night on tv, but the tv has hardly any channels. itv4 and other channels simply had no signal. it really is a great place to stay, and would be absolutely perfect with those couple of additions.

Enjoyed my stay in Laxey !I was looking for somewhere in Laxey convenient for shops and transport and the Workshop Apartment sounded ideal for a single traveller like me. Just a few hundred yards up the road there is a handy Co-op which is open till 10pm and adjacent to that are bus and tram stops so all requirements were met. The apartment was very clean and well equipped and being still May time a little background heating was good in the mornings. I had excellent service from Island Escapes and I would certainly return to Laxey which has been a family holiday favourite for some years. Previously had stayed on Minorca Hill which is a bit of a climb up from the beach at my age but in contrast it was an easy walk from the Workshop Apartment along the flat Glen Road to the beach (very nice cafe !) and the harbour area. As I arrived on the Island at lunchtime I had some time to spare and was able to get the bus from the airport to Port Erin and later in the afternoon make my way up to Laxey, again by bus via Douglas. I had bought a 5-day "GO" card and found the buses and trams excellent . All in all a nice break in a well-loved village.

A well laid out apartment.A well laid out apartment, with everything that you could possibly need for your stay. However there are no blinds at the door leaving you very exposed when going from the bedroom to the bathroom. Island Escapes were readily available to answer any questions and were also very helpful.
