Our cottage was ideally located, decor was fresh and welcoming and well equipped. We were very comfortable and would stay there again.
The lounge/diner was very well provisioned and comfortable. The kitchen had everything you need for a comfortable stay; however, there were several damp patches which make me wonder how an asthmatic might cope. The very small back yard was unusable due to rubbish strewn about and two young gulls in residence. Upstairs the double bedroom had good storage space but the foot of the double bed was very close to the wall (about a foot clearance), with the television hung overhead the space; this made it difficult to get past to the en suite bathroom. Perhaps the bed could be turned round to make better use of the space? We didn't use the second bedroom. The two bathrooms both had showers that drained into the floor and both took a long time to drain completely; one was walking through water and soapsuds whilst drying oneself. My wife even decided that she would wipe down the floors with cloths to clear suds away. There was a mop and bucket but nowhere to dry the mop. Two loaves of bread and some butter were left for us, but two loaves was too much. On balance, despite some excellent points there were too many downsides to make us consider booking this cottage again or recommending it to our friends
First time staying at this property.very quiet location.less than 2 minutes walk to the promenade in Peel.Nice welcoming pack with Manx butter, cheese, and freshly baked bread.rooms decent size, and same for the bathrooms.only one minor issue though.the front bathroom didn't have net curtains on the window,so had to use the Window blind, which made the room dark.other than that would love to stay there again.
We have had a lovely stay at the cottage. It is well equipped with everything you need for your stay. Unfortunately there is an overwhelming smell of damp downstairs which does fade when the heat has been on for a few days but the problem does need to be addressed. I would have been disappointed if it was sunny and I wanted to use the back yard as it was full of scaffolding.
1 Charles Street West a perfect place for a four night trip to Peel. The house is warm, cosy and very well equipped. It is a small cottage (especially with a baby that's just learnt to walk!) so bear that in mind if you're considering a longer stay, but for a small group and a short stay it was ideal. Be prepared to park a short (3 min) walk away but loading/unloading is easy if you're organised as you can pull over in Market St, around the corner. You're really in the heart of Peel, which is lovely, and in a great place to explore the island. We will be back! Highly recommend, and Island Escapes were fab.
I was delighted when I arrived at 1 Charles Street to find such a Cosy cottage. It was well furnished and comfortable. Wi fi and internet available with a large screen TV. The kitchen was well appointed although I ate out every day. I will definitely be staying here again.
We loved staying at 1 Charles St - all amenities on the doorstep and really great pubs providing food in the evening. The cottage was spotless on arrival and very comfortable. Island Escapes are very good to deal with if anything crops up. This was our fourth stay with Island Escapes. We will definitely return to Peel on our next visit.
Generally a comfortable property tucked away about 50 yards from the seafront. Very handy for exploring Peel. Master bedroom is a bit tight getting round the foot of the bed - removing the tv would help! The properties round in the street are generally unloved but inside you basically have all you need for a self-catering stay. Peel beach, castle and museums are excellent. Peel Hill well worth the climb. Creek Inn and The Boatyard good for dining.
We spent 10 days here over the summer and it was too long - a number of issues arose and for this reason we wouldnt stay again.1. Loud next door neighbour playing music until 0200, most nights. 2. 2 x bathrooms which are actually wet rooms need urgent maintenance. Tiles are loose, water not training away, needs urgent re grouting. 3. The wet rooms are causing active damp in the kitchen and hall. This needs treating immediately.4. Back drain is blocked a floods the yard.5. Front door sticks, has been reported earlier by previous guest.6. Bed frame is too big for the main bedroom, add in the unnecessary TV on the wall, makes squeezing into the second bathroom unnecessarily tricky. In all has the potential to be a small but pleasant cottage however the lack of maintenance and the loud neighbour is why we wouldnt stay again and it really impacted the holiday. Avoid until these issues are fixed.
We spent a week in Charles street and for the most part it was very good. There are a few things that needs tweaking though.1. Wet rooms. The wet room in the master has loose floor tiles meaning water is not draining away and remains wet post shower.2. Wet room 2 is very small and perpetuates a smell of damp.3. Some general paint work tidy up is needed on the walls. Finally the master bed is just too small and in clear need of an updated mattress.Otherwise all other amenities including the kitchen were really good.
The cottage is very well-presented and in a great location, close to the seafront and all the local amenities. Only negatives are minor and due to the property being small:a) It is difficult to get to the en-suite in the main bedroom without narrowly avoiding a collision with the TV because the space between wall and bed is so narrow. b) Both bathrooms are wet-rooms, so you get your feet wet if you decide to use the toilet/sink within a couple of hours of having a shower.c) There is no bath in the house.
All good but directions to property very misleading. Directions suggest you can drive from Market Street into Charles Steet, which is not possible
The cottage was clean and comfortable in a very quaint street close to shops, eateries, buses and beach. It was nicely presented and decorated. The pint of milk and other goodies left were very welcome. On the downside one of the shower's drain was blocked and it was unusable. There needed to be more mugs and bowls to maximise loads for the dishwasher. The front door key was very temperamental and it would have proved difficult to escape in the event of a fire. I reported the shower and the lock to Island Escapes. Someone did come out but solved neither problem. Otherwise a lovely holiday.
Lovely cottage and great value for money. The people staying loved the quirkiness of the cottage, and loved all the hidden cupboards!
My boyfriend and I loved our stay in Peel. Charles Street was in a great location, a minute walk from the beach and not even 5 minutes to Peel Castle. There are plenty of lovely pubs and restaurants nearby as well as shops such as Coop and ShopRite.Parking isn't directly outside but we found it easy to get somewhere close-by and even if we had to walk a couple of minutes, this was no issue. Charles Street itself was brilliant with everything we needed. The main bedroom is a little tight for space, especially getting into the ensuite but that can't really be helped as they are smaller houses and the double bed can't go any other way! Ideal place for family. There was only the two of us but it was originally meant to be three but there's plenty of room for 4+ people. It was peaceful at night & we felt safe walking around late at night. Locals were friendly. I'd recommend 1 Charles Street & Peel to anybody and I'd love to come back again.
Found 1 Charles street whilst trying to find the perfect place for my kids, partner and I to stay whilst over visiting family and friends. I knew I wanted to be based in Peel and what a brilliant decision it was going with 1 Charles street. You won't get a better location, stones throw away from the beach.. and even closer to a great pub! Yes the house itself upstairs is very small, you kind of have to squeeze past the bed to get to the en-suite but it's totally worth it. The house was spotless, couldn't fault it at all. The extras provided makes this a place I will for sure be renting out again. Fresh bread on the counter, Manx butter and milk in the fridge, dishwasher tablets, there was even buckets and spades (really good ones) for the kids to play with on the beach, every last situation has been thought out here and I can't praise it enough. If your lucky to find yourself staying here look past the size because for me personally it's totally worth it when you look where you are and what's been done for you to ensure you have a comfortable stay. Huge TV with every app you could think of which was a bonus with the little ones too. I wish I could of stayed longer! I for sure will be back. Thank you so much x
Standard of presentation of the property is good. Facilities cover all requirements. Grocery stores, Indian/Chinese/Italian Restaurants/Takeaways a short walk on one side and Peel Sea Front on the other. It's a small cottage, and you do have to squeeze around the double bed to get to the on-suite. But you will find that you forgive it that.
