Description

Eva's Cottage is one of a collection of refurbished listed buildings in an historic area of Castletown, just a stone’s throw away from the harbour, in the south of the Isle of Man. Etchings featured on the interior walls have been exposed in the refurbishment project and they are suspected to date back to the 18th century!

The living area including the kitchen is a light and airy space. The first floor extends to the open ceiling, exposing the original refurbished A frames. Velux windows allow sunlight to stream into the cottage and there is a partial view of the nearby Irish Sea from the upstairs windows.

Downstairs you will find two bedrooms; a king size and a single. The king bedroom has an en-suite, supplied with luxury toiletries for your comfort.

The headboard in the king bedroom and shower room doors are all made from the original attic floorboards, intertwining the cottage's history with the present day.

Stylish interior lights run up the stairs and across the exposed ceiling beams, illuminating the cottage and making you feel right at home. There is underfloor heating throughout, making it that extra bit cosier.

Nearby you can find Keys Cottage, Packet House and Ellan Vannin, all finished to the same high standard. They sleep between 4 and 6 people each, so why not book these alongside Eva's Cottage if coming as a larger group?

Castletown itself is full of history and the home of a number of Manx National Heritage sites and a great base for a holiday. The airport is 5 minutes down the road, and the town has a wide range of bars, restaurants and cafes close by. The historic Steam Railway runs through the town connecting it with the islands capital, Douglas and the seaside villages of Port Erin and Port St Mary.

Lovely cottage in a lovely location

We had a lovely stay at this cottage. It’s very well equipped with everything you could need for your stay and lots of nice little touches. It’s in a nice location near the waterfront. Recommended!

Wonderful experience

We’ve had the most wonderful time. We arrived from the ferry (December) to find it lovely and warm with lights on. Very welcoming. The house has been renovated to an incredibly high standard, 5 star seems a bit mean. It had everything we needed to enjoy meals in. The bed and linen and towels are top quality. Location is excellent. In twenty strides you can take in the sea air and view of a pretty harbour. A few more strides to a choice of three pubs and restaurants. The square with its decorations was charming. Parking was convenient too. I couldn’t fault it and we have had a lovely happy stay on the island. Island Escapes are friendly and very helpful. I have no hesitation in recommending them and look forward to returning soon. Ian

Wonderful, relaxing and luxurious stay to wind down

The high standards set by Island Escapes was met (perhaps surpassed) once again at Eva’s Cottage. Everything there that could be needed. Everything in tip top condition.

A fabulous cottage for our family holiday

A fabulous cottage in the heart of Castletown. The standard of accommodation was excellent, with all the modern touches holiday rentals often forget. It would be helpful to have hooks for outerwear as wells as the towels and towelling robes. The en-suite towel rail couldn’t be turned on to dry out the towels and it started to feel very damp by the end of our stay. The list of places to eat needs updating in the cottage handbook because so many of the places have closed down. The options for evening meals in Castletown was far more limited than we had hoped or expected.

Nice property just not what we originally booked

Very nice clean property but not where we had originally booked and so in comparison to our expected location in peel was lacking somewhat. Still had an enjoyable holiday it just wasn't where we wanted to be

Excellent!!

Wonderful cosy stay in the beautifully renovated Eva's Cottage. Very well equipped and sparkling clean with those extra touches of quality linens, towels and bathroom products. Location is in the historic Keys area of the easy going town of Castletown with a magnificent Castle to walk by everyday. Local restaurants and pubs are a most. If you prefer not to drive there's a regular bus service from the town connecting to the rest of the island. Beautiful sea and harbour views a 5 second walk from the door. To add to that this local agency really cares about their guest experience. Genuinely attentive, responsive and approachable.
