Description

Applegarth is a delightful traditional, detached, stone-built Manx holiday cottage in the village of St. John’s, in the centre of the Isle of Man. With everything you would want from a holiday cottage, it provides the perfect base for every season. During the summer months, the conservatory and outdoor gardens backing onto the River Neb provide a great suntrap, whilst in winter enjoy cozy nights in front of the roaring fire courtesy of the log burner. 

A spacious second living room and conservatory allows for more space, so in addition for being a perfect couples getaway this is also ideal for small family groups. The 2 bedrooms are set up as a double and as a twin, with the twin easily converting to a double if required. 

Access to nearby Slieau Whallian (The Witches hill) is via several footpaths, one of which is virtually across the road from the cottage. From the back garden patio, you can see across the river and fields to St John’s the Baptist Church, which is built on the site of an ancient chapel. You can also see Tynwald Hill, which is the assembly place for the Isle of Man parliament and which is reportedly the oldest and longest unbroken parliament in the world. Tynwald Day, is held on the 5th July every year and is a public holiday on the Isle of Man, with various celebrations within St Johns village. There are also a number of other attractions to visit a short drive from Applegarth, including the Manx Aviation and Military Museum, Curraghs Wildlife Park, Castle Rushen and Laxey Wheel, the world’s largest working waterwheel.

Bathroom: Bath with shower over.

Parking: Parking available immediately outside on a private driveway.

Changeover Day: Friday arrival 3:00pm - departure 10:00am (flexible changeover day out of summer season).

Power and Heating: Electricity and Oil fired heating included in rent.

Bedding and Linen: Bed linen & towels provided.

Baby Equipment: A cot and high chair are available at no extra charge.
