Ferries to the Isle of Man

Heysham to Douglas
Year-round service with up to 12 sailings per week. Ideal for those travelling from the Northwest of England (3h 45m crossing).

Liverpool to Douglas
Fast ferry (Manannan) operates daily from April to October, and weekends in winter (2h 45m crossing).

Belfast to Douglas
Seasonal crossings, perfect for Northern Ireland travellers (2h 45m crossing).

Dublin to Douglas
Also seasonal, with crossings during peak holiday periods (2h 55m crossing).

Planning Your Trip to the Isle of Man: All Your Questions Answered

What documents do I need to bring when visiting the Isle of Man? If you’re travelling from the UK or Ireland, you don’t legally need a passport to enter the Isle of Man. However, most airlines will ask for a valid passport or another form of photo ID before boarding, so it’s always best to check directly with your airline to confirm what they accept. If you’re arriving by ferry, there’s no official ID requirement, but it’s strongly advised that you carry photo identification, such as a driving licence, that matches the details of your booking.

If you’re travelling from outside the UK or Ireland, you’ll need a valid passport and must meet the usual UK entry requirements.

Prefer to rent a car? Car hire is widely available, especially at the airport, and The Isle of Man boasts a well-maintained road network.

Is public transport an option? Yes! The island has a reliable bus service connecting towns and villages. During warmer months, you can also enjoy seasonal railways. Taxis and car hire services are also readily available.

What currency should I bring? Cards are widely accepted on the island. However if you prefer cash, the Isle of Man uses the Manx pound (IM£), which is equivalent in value to the British pound sterling (£). UK currency is accepted everywhere on the island, but Manx notes and coins may not be usable outside the Isle of Man.
