Well maintained property.
Stables is a large well maintained property with 3 bedrooms, 3 toilets and 2 showers. The kitchen, dining and living areas are located on the upper floor along with a bedroom and en-suite bathroom with toilet and basin. Downstairs are 2 bedrooms 1 e suite containing a shower and small basin, no toilet. 2 toilets are located downstairs 1 with a very good shower. The property is located conveniently between Port St Mary and Port Erin. Both can be reached within 15 minutes walking. Outside is a garden with BBQ and ample parking. On enquiring about the fuel used for BBQ when first meeting the owners they decided it was not usable and replaced it the next day with the charcoal. This level of service extended to the rest of our stay, they were available, friendly but unobtrusive. From this property you can walk to either Port Erin or Port St Mary to take the Steam train, shop or visit pubs. We stayed for 7 nights visiting most of the island by steam train, horse drawn tram, electric train and car. There is plenty to see on the island. Stables is a lovely property with friendly hosts who do their upmost to ensure you enjoy your time on the island.

Excellent Stay
We absolutely enjoyed our week at the stables. The accommodation was excellent and everything worked which isn't always the case. The cottage provided an excellent base for touring the island and the recommendations from previous guests all proved very accurate. I would thoroughly recommend the Stables and the Isle of Man

Too many stairs not good for disabled.
Very comfortable and well equipped. One lady had very poor mobility , we thought she would be ok once she was up the flight of stairs on one level but she struggled with the extra steps to the bedroom and lounge.

Lovely house, heating smell, longish walk to villages
The house is large with two bedrooms downstairs, one with shower and sink and then a separate main bathroom. Sleeping downstairs was cool as the top of the house got lots of sun through the day. Beds are large and comfortable. The whole place was clean and tidy. Upstairs was another bedroom with ensuite toilet and sink, then kitchen area and living room. Kitchen was a bit barren for equipment but functional. Does have a coffee machine which was welcome. Chairs in the living space area varied but the main sofa was very hard and flat. The more upright chairs were more comfortable but we ended up sat on the floor with cushions. Good range of games downstairs to play. The heating system creates a very odd smell to the whole place which you get used to but its not great and is stronger when the windows have been closed for a while as it builds. The site is lovely with a field area close to with sheep wandering around. The backyard space is a bit overlooked but we tried star gazing one night but the barn over the road seemed to have its security light on permanently so it wiped out the view. The whole island is a bit of a contradiction really for pushing ecological awareness but then having fossil fuelled heating, light pollution and steam trains. Anyway, if you were driving the location would be great. On foot it was about 15 minutes walk to either village/town i.e. Port St Mary and Port Erin. Both are pretty and quiet places. There is a supermarket in Port Erin and the train station is handy for connections back towards Douglas. There was a range of food places to eat including some pubs and a chippy. Walking was a bit of a treck back up the hill but achievable.

Holidays at the Stables
Weve been to the Stables for 14 consecutive years, missed the last 3 because of Covid. We have enjoyed many holidays here with our family. Its a lovely comfortable homely place to stay, the only criticism we have is the freezer is always blocked up with ice, this year was particularly bad, we could hardly get the drawers open. It should be de-iced frequently. When our towels werent changed mid fortnight I rang Island Escapes & within an hour clean towels were delivered, which we were very grateful for.

Just amazing!
We had the best time staying at The Stable at Glendown Farm. The children had a blast talking to the sheep and the location could not be better. 2 minutes from Port St Mary, 2 minutes to Port Erin and 10 minutes from The Sound (which is a must visit).

Lovely Farm Cottage
Lovely farm cottage in a nice quiet area. Well equipped, very clean & comfortable. A fantastic welcome pack was very welcomed. Within walking distance of Port Erin. Downstairs bedrooms & toilets. Main lounge & kitchen upstairs. A number of stairs within the property so may be unsuitable for some.

Fabulous location and great accommodation.
Returning to Glendown always a treat. Lovely welcome pack of bread, tea, coffee, milk and butter. Useful guidebooks - very handy. Well equipped cottage. Great location & cottage but be aware of the layout which involves stairs up to living area. The tele took a while to negotiate to obtain channels then realised it was through freeview & iplayer! One annoyance is the sofa - very slippy cushions and not really enough comfy seats for 6 adults. The positives massively outweigh any niggles though. Also, maybe some beach towels would be a good addition.

Spring Staycation
The Stable is set in beautiful surroundings and is in an ideal location within easy walking distance of both Port St Mary and Port Erin. We picked the best Spring weather for our weekend staycation which was an added bonus. The accommodation is spacious, well equipped and extremely comfortable. The service from Island Escapes was excellent and the complimentary pack of tea, coffee, local bread, milk and butter is a thoughtful touch. The owners, Derek and Jane were so welcoming and helped make our family weekend feel very special.

Perfect for any length of stay
We only spent 3 nights at the Stables but it could easily have accommodated us for longer. The kitchen is fully stocked and all of the appliances worked well. The three bedrooms were comfortable and one of the rooms had additional blinds on the windows, which helped block out any early morning daylight. The bathrooms and loos were all clean and everything worked properly, and the living room was light and lovely. If I was pushed to find fault, I would say that this wouldn't be suitable for people with any severe mobility issues as there are lots of stairs, and we reported a couple of very minor issues on our leaving form - otherwise, this is a perfect venue in a perfect location.

Excellent second stay
Our second stay and we love it. Only constructive feedback would be the travel cot is broken and there is no mattress. My 2 year old had a terrible sleep the first night and then we went home and got ours. I think it would be better to say its not provided if it's broken.
